Holidays & Seasonal Stressors: Managing Tension and Overwhelm

As the holiday season approaches, our schedules fill up, our to-do lists grow longer, and expectations (both our own and others’) can start to feel heavy. While this season is meant for joy, connection, and gratitude, it often brings its share of stress and physical tension. This year, let’s make space for calm, balance, and wellness – inside and out.

Functional Wellness Tips for Holiday Calm

Small, intentional steps can make a big difference in maintaining balance during a hectic time of year:

  • Keep your body moving: Gentle movement such as yoga, stretching, or a holiday walk can help manage tension, support circulation, and boost mood.
  • Set boundaries early: Protect your rest and recovery time. Say yes to what matters most and remember that “no” is also a complete sentence.
  • Stay hydrated and nourished: It’s easy to skip meals or reach for quick sugar fixes during gatherings, but balanced meals with protein and healthy fats stabilize energy and mood.
  • Make space for stillness: Whether through meditation, journaling, or a few deep breaths between errands, moments of mindfulness help regulate your nervous system.

How Chiropractic Care Supports Stress Relief

Chiropractic adjustments do more than ease back or neck pain — they help your nervous system function efficiently. Dr. Lisa and her team use gentle, tailored adjustments to reduce physical stress on your spine and muscles, improving posture, mobility, and overall resilience. When your body moves freely, your mind follows suit.

Regular chiropractic care helps regulate your body’s stress response, calming muscle tension and promoting better sleep — crucial tools in avoiding holiday burnout.

Need to use your HSA or FSA funds before the year wraps up?

Treat yourself (or someone else!) by purchasing a gift card. Not only will your funds be considered "spent" for your employer, but you can schedule your services whenever you're ready. Plus, gift cards make a thoughtful present for another patient!

Massage Therapy: A Reset for Body & Mind

Massage therapy, offered by experienced practitioners like Cathy Campbell, blends techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, and craniosacral therapy. Each session is customized to release physical tension while supporting emotional balance and inner calm. Craniosacral and myofascial techniques, in particular, promote deep relaxation and help reset the nervous system — a natural antidote to holiday anxiety.

Whether you’re recovering from a long day of travel, managing chronic tightness, or simply needing a moment to unwind, massage therapy can ground you back in your body and restore your sense of ease.

Wellness for Parents: Helping Children Navigate the Season

Excitement, disrupted routines, and endless sugar cookies can challenge children just as much as adults. Chiropractic care for kids helps support immune function, reduce anxiety, and keep their little bodies balanced through the hustle of the holidays.

At home, you can help create calm by:

  • Keeping bedtime routines as consistent as possible.
  • Encouraging outdoor play to release pent-up energy.
  • Modeling moments of rest — children mirror what they see.
  • Creating a calm space for quiet reflection, reading, or mindful breathing.

When families move through the holidays grounded and connected, everyone benefits.
